Tony トニー

Hey there, I’m Tony! Just a regular eighth-grader, but I’m the big sibling in my family. Instead of going to regular school, I’ve been homeschooled, which lets me dive into all sorts of cool stuff you don’t usually learn in class. Before the whole Covid thing, my family and I used to head to Japan every year for a few months. We’d hang out, soak in the culture, and I even got to go to a Japanese school for a bit. Last year, I got to go back and spend a whole year at a Japanese middle school. It was eye-opening to see how things are different and similar between Japan and the States, and it helped me grow a ton. I’m into music too, play piano, violin, and ukulele. And I’ve been picking up Chinese on the side, which came in handy when we visited Taiwan last winter. I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and families in our classes!

Ellie エリー

Hi, my name is Ellie. I am 7th grade and curious about most everything. I've also been homeschooled and loved learning about cats, cooking, arts, crafts, languages and other cultures. I love going out for camping, visiting other places and countries, and making friends. I have visited Taiwan, Japan, Mexico, and many other states and loved learning about the people's lives and seeing the new sides of the world. All my siblings have been very athletic and exposed to different sports. I liked participating in Spartan races, obstacle courses, swimming, rope courses, gymnastics, and volleyball. Most of all, I love Jiujitsu and Judo. I have been having opportunities of being in a jiujitsu and judo teams past 4 years. All my siblings love competing in jiujitsu and judo. I got a 3rd place in the prefecture tournament this spring in Japan!

Jace ジェイス

Konnichiwa! My name is Jace. I am 4th grade and love anime, comic books, reading, playing, and exploring nature. I like all sorts of sports; running, swimming, judo, jiujitsu, dodgeball, soccer, skating, horseback riding, pickleball, skiing, and cycling and more. I like listening to Japanese music. I would like to share fun things I had done in Japan to the class and enjoy together. It is fun to communicate in Japanese especially, if you like anime and Japanese culture! It must have been very tough if I didn't know any Japanese when I went there. I am grateful to speak, read, and write the language, but more than that, communicating with them and getting to know who they really were were the best. I can't wait to get to know you and learn Japanese together!!

Chiko 知娘

Hello, my name is Chiko. I am a born and raised native Japanese. I came to the states when I was 18 the first time and have lived various states since then. I met my husband, Tim when we were in college and now we have 5 children. I have been teaching Japanese over 13 years both children and adults and I love it! I am excited to share what I know about Japan and introduce the beauty of my county to everyone. Through trying Japanese immersion in my family, my children have learned not only the language but also accepting others and differences from their young age. That would be wonderful if I can help to reach your children's and your goals through our classes. Let's have fun exploring Japan with us!
